Hidden Gem: 67 Steps Beach in Greenport
Having recently moved to Long Island's North Fork, I've been eagerly exploring its hidden gems, and 67 Steps Beach in Greenport quickly became one of my favorite spots. This beach is ideal for anyone looking to escape from the chaos. Whether tanning in the sun during the day or watching the sunset at night, 67 Steps Beach has something beautiful to offer.
Arriving at 67 Steps Beach during the day, I was greeted by a very small parking area with lots of trees and bushes. I wasn't expecting much until I walked closer and saw a series of 67 wooden steps that descended through the greenery. The descent, though just 67 steps, felt like a journey to a secret paradise. At the bottom, the sight that you see is nothing short of breathtaking.
The beach stretches out with sand and rocks of all sizes. The water was a beautiful deep blue and cool, perfect for a swim on a warm summer day. I couldn't resist the urge to swim, as there were a few other people in the water. The beach's laid-back atmosphere was contagious as it was very quiet due to not many people being there compared to public beaches. Although relaxing and alluring, the rocky sand made it hard to walk without shoes, so I would definitely recommend water shoes when coming to this beach.
After being there for a few hours, I decided to leave the beach and return home, but I couldn't escape the thought of how beautiful the sunset might be. The beach, now quieter with the setting sun, offered a different kind of tranquility. The golden hour painted the sky in shades of pink, orange, and blue.
I noticed another aspect of 67 Steps Beach that added to its beauty. Along the coast were people fishing and crabbing. Families with young kids used nets and traps to catch crabs out from their hiding spots among the rocks. While others had their fishing rod in the water in hopes of catching something. Their shouts of excitement added to the lively atmosphere, creating a scene where everyone, whether fishing, crabbing or simply observing, felt happy to be there. This beach offered a glimpse into the marine life that thrives along Long Island's North Fork coastline.
Watching the sunset over 67 Steps Beach was an experience that captured how beautiful it really is and I'm glad I went back to see it. Whether you're drawn to sunbathing, swimming, fishing, crabbing, or even watching the sunset, 67 Steps Beach offers a perfect blend of relaxation and beauty that will fascinate anyone who visits. I am excited to go back and enjoy a relaxing day in nature and take a break from the fast-paced life I live. For anyone exploring Greenport or simply seeking a new favorite spot on Long Island, 67 Steps Beach is a must-visit destination. Its combination of natural beauty, vibrant beach life, and stunning sunsets makes it stand out from the rest, and is one of the most stunning beaches I have been to in my life.
