Sweet Escapes: A Visit to Ralph's Italian Ices of Greenport
As part of my exploration of the North Fork of Long Island, I recently visited Ralph's Italian Ices in Greenport, and it was an experience worth sharing. This spot is more than just a place to get Italian ice as it has almost any sweet treat you can think of.
Upon entering Ralph's, I was immediately struck by the vibrant display of flavor options. The menu has an impressive selection of choices that anyone can find something they would love. From traditional Italian ice to creamy soft serve and decadent ice cream, Ralph’s has something for everyone. But it doesn’t stop there as their selection also includes cream ice, which I have never heard of before. Creme ice is a combination of Italian ice and 1% milk, as it makes a less creamy consistency than ice cream but still has an amazing taste.
The variety of flavors was so extensive that I could not make up my mind. Luckily, I was able to sample a few flavors. The staff at Ralph's were very welcoming and even recommended some of their favorite flavors to help narrow down my options. I thought it was great customer service and they truly cared about customer satisfaction. I ended up sampling their rainbow Italian ice, chocolate fudge brownie creme ice, and Mississippi mud ice cream. Their rainbow Italian ice was a combination of watermelon, blue raspberry, and lemon. Their chocolate fudge brownie could almost compete with Ben and Jerry’s chocolate fudge brownie ice cream - it was that good. Lastly, their Mississippi mud ice cream was chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and chocolate fudge.
After sampling these three flavors, I thought they were all delicious. I ultimately decided on the rainbow Italian ice as it was very hot outside and their Italian ice was most refreshing. I bought a small size which was $5.16 including tax. Though the price of my rainbow Italian Ice was slightly higher than what you might find at a typical ice cream shop, it was pretty reasonable considering the area and the quality of the offerings. With Greenport being a popular destination that has many tourist attractions, they often have higher prices.
One thing that stood out to me is Ralph’s extensive menu beyond their ice, cream ice, and ice cream, as mentioned before. They also offer a range of sundaes with a variety of toppings and flavor combinations and even have hot pastries in them such as brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and pound cake. They had milkshakes, smoothies, and a warm waffle sandwich with ice cream in between. But the list doesn't stop there as they had pre-made ice cream sandwiches and a candy station. This addition is perfect for adding a bit of extra sweetness to your treat or simply for indulging in some classic candy favorites.
Ralph’s also had an outdoor seating area. It’s a pleasant spot to enjoy your dessert while taking in the beautiful atmosphere of Greenport.
In summary, Ralph's Italian Ices in Greenport is a great spot on the North Fork. With its impressive range of flavors, delicious frozen treats, and charming atmosphere, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone exploring the area. Whether you’re a fan of Italian ice or ice cream, or just looking for a sweet treat, Ralph's promises a refreshing and enjoyable experience.
